Polish Weeks at NetCost Market
Polish cuisine is an eclectic mix of European food styles, including influence from Central Europe such as Germany and Austria, from the Slavic states Ukraine and Slovakia, and also from Jewish, Turkish and Italian culinary traditions. All of these exciting sources of inspiration have made Polish food a delicious and varied collection of foods that celebrates the wide-ranging flavors of European cuisine, that’s why it’s earned its place as one of our favorite cuisines.
At NetCost Market we’re always looking for ways we can help our local communities reconnect with their roots through food, and to encourage the sharing of new food experiences. From April 20 to May 10, we will be offering a selection of food that celebrates the vibrancy of Polish culture through its cuisine. For this three-week period, we will be offering Polish cold cut meats, pickles, pastries, sweets, and alcoholic beverages at discounted prices so you can celebrate the culture of this wonderful country through your taste buds! Kielbasa – Kielbasa is a type of sausage that originates from Central Europe, and is one that Poland has made its own! The variety of shapes, colors, and flavors that Kielbasa can feature is astonishing, it can be smoked, fried, baked or boiled! Pickles – Pickles are a staple food in Poland as the nation was required to perfect the art of pickling to stave off hunger and ensure they could keep eating vegetables throughout the long harsh winters. Dill flavored pickled cucumber is a real favorite, but so is Polish-style Sauerkraut, pickled mushrooms, and sweet pickled onions! They’re the ideal, quick and easy snack on their own or great to add a healthy, vitamin packed boost side to your evening meal
Sweets – Poland has a rich sweet tradition that includes baked goods such as Paczki (Polish donuts), Sernik Cheesecake, and candies such as Krowki and Kukulki.
