“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”
~ Hippocrates
Food is an essential part of our life. The food you eat becomes your blood, affecting the quality of your cells, tissues, organs and your mind. We need to learn what is good for our bodies and health. Different people require different diets. It depends on the individual. We have different kinds of jobs, life-styles, various tastes and preferences, age and activity levels, strong likes and dislikes. Everybody needs good nutrition in order to achieve radiant health. A well-balanced diet between proteins, carbohydrates, healthy fats, fruits and vegetables can help you stay energetic and robust.
It is important to create a healthy habit of eating. Pay attention to what you eat and how you feel afterwards. Experiment with a variety of delicious and nutritious foods until you find what works for you. Try new and unique dishes. Novelty eating is always a lot of fun. Moderation is the key to a healthy balance. Slowly but surely your eating habits will be awesome.
Start your day with filling foods. It is good to eat a heathy breakfast in the morning, around 8 am. Enjoy a hearty bowl of cooked brown rice with raisins, lemon zest, honey and ground cinnamon. You won’t be hungry till lunch.
Eat your largest meal at noon, around 12 or 1pm. Have something substantial, start with a soup or salad, then grilled salmon with grilled vegetables. If you feel hungry between meals have a light snack. You can snack on fresh fruits, dried fruits, rice cakes, baby carrot sticks. Fruit smoothies are an excellent way to nourish your body with vitamins and delicious taste. Mix 1 banana, 6 strawberries with Brazil nuts, and water. Nibble on nuts, they are high in healthy fats and protein.
Make your dinner earlier, around 6 or 7pm, you can eat soups, green salads with bread, fruit salads. When you are not eating enough during the day your body starts to crave more food in the evening. Eat a bulk of food early in the day, and go lighter on your supper. Eat only when your body is naturally hungry (stop eating when your body is satisfied).
Good diet can increase the energy level, get your hormones in balance, feed the good bacteria in your gut and enhance your immune system. Learn how to improve overall health and clean up your diet for 2017 with nutritionist Leona Sokolova.
It is worth making a daily habit of creating the best eating routine for yourself. Love yourself enough to change wishing into doing. Stay healthy both physically and mentally.
Best wishes, Leona S.
